Children’s Fiction and Cultural Inclusion Event

The topical issue of the role of cultural inclusion in children and young adult fiction was enthusiastically debated by award-winning authors Alex Wheatle MBE (Crongton Knights), Patrice Lawerence (Orangeboy) and literary agent Davinia Andrew-Lynch (Andlyn) on Friday 5 May 2017 at Waterstones Piccadilly. With children’s fiction seeing three consecutive years of growth, and the top 20 young adult fiction authors experiencing increased sales, it is worry to note the absence of writers of colour in the genres.

The event was moderated by Joy Francis, executive director, Words of Colour Productions.
