London roles
Social media assistant
This position is for a digitally-minded and digitally-literate undergraduate, or a recent graduate, with strong social media, written English and editorial skills. You should be well organised and passionate about the arts, writing industries and cultural and creative inclusivity. This role will enable you to build on your current skills with regular appraisals, mentoring and professional development opportunities with the potential to be our social media coordinator for London.
Commitment: A minimum of 10 hours per month, largely working from home, with access to Words of Colour’s base at Second Home in Shoreditch or sister site in London Fields, plus the flexibility – with notice – to attend evening and weekend events. The successful candidate will work closely with the social media coordinator and with the executive director. There will be an induction process and three month probationary period.
Freelance videographer
We are looking for an emerging videographer to supplement our core team to film in-house for Words of Colour and Digital Women UK, along with partner and client projects. You will have a strong visual aesthetic, can work under pressure, in different settings, with strong social skills. You will need at least two years experience, your own equipment and to be London-based. You will have the opportunity to be professionally mentored and be part of a creative and enthusiastic team.
Development Opportunity: Guest reviewers
Do you love books, film, theatre and want to develop your reviewing skills? Words of Colour has a long tradition of developing sharp and incisive online reviewers. Covering film, books (of all genres) and theatre, this is a great opportunity for people of colour who are members of a book club, poetry club, film club, or journalism students who want to gain experience, and build a portfolio. Perks include attending press nights, complementary advance copies of new books, mentoring, portfolio building and professional development. All out of pocket expenses will be covered. There will be a trial period of three months.
All candidates will be expected to confidently represent Words of Colour Productions and Digital Women UK at events – and on its digital platforms.
