Words of Colour AGM 2023 tackles creativity in crisis post-Covid

Join Words of Colour and guests at its virtual AGM 2023 to explore how artists of colour are navigating the current crisis and the way forward.

As we emerge from the alarming impact of Covid over the past three years, what have we returned to?

  • A climate of lack amid the ‘cost of living crisis’.
  • Funding cuts and under-investment in the arts, culture and literature.
  • The fostering of inequalities and discrimination through government policies, amplifying social and racial injustice.

Against this backdrop, how do we regroup, sustain, thrive and inspire creativity, in ourselves and others, at a time of uncertainty, stress and conflict?

Hosts Joy Francis (Executive Director, Words of Colour), Heather Marks (Words of Colour’s Creative Producer) and our Director of Creative Wellbeing and People Suzanne Lyn-Cook will join special guests Melanie Abrahams, Creative Director, Renaissance One, Sailesh Ram, Founder, Asian Culture Vulture, and Emmy nominated Filmmaker and Producer Ahmed Jamal will reflect on the AGM’s theme.

Poet, Theatremaker and Producer Tolu Agbelusi will close the AGM with readings from her acclaimed debut poetry collection Locating Strongwoman.
