In Conversation with Yassmin Abdel-Magied, Waterstones Bristol

This #BHM we are diving into the Words of Colour archive to revisit our history which is full of conversations with Black British creatives and rising stars. Discover your favourites at early points in their careers and catch up on the conversations you missed.

Today we’re revisiting our inaugural event in Bristol with the incredible Yassmin Abdel-Magied – author, engineer, activist and style queen – which took place last year on Wednesday 16th May 2019 at Waterstones Bristol. Yassmin discussed her debut Young Adult novel You Must Be Layla, touching on how she wrote her young protagonist Layla, why she wrote bilingually in Arabic and English, and her love of storytelling.
